9-11 did a lot of things.. Not least showing how incredibly stupid so many people seem to be...

Absolutely, I think she's still the best female driver!

When she wins at Laguna Seca or Road America or Mid Ohio.. That will show true skill, this was good but wins in oval racing are only statisitcally relevant when you're up there regularly.. A bit of fuel strategy luck can make midfield drivers win every now and then..

Your cpu cooler isn't quite up to the task of heavily overclocking the quad core, you'll get a lot more headroom if you go a bit more exotic with a nice Scythe Ninja or Thermalright tower heatsink..

Quote from rc10racer :, guess my other 8800gt coming tomorrow will push the watts up even higher even thou my psu is only 600 watt.

LOL! that is outrageous! You'd be fine with a good 300W powersupply even! Any decent modern powersupply will do fine.. geez these calculators are so horribly bad its .. stunning.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :Modular PSUs are not as efficent as the old school way of having everything directly connected to the PSU as you're adding another level of resistance to the system.

Sorry but that is nonsense. Contact losses are VERY minimal. I doubt you could measure it, it would matter less than ONE WATT for sure!

Quote : My system chugs 474w. But like a fool I have a slightly over powered PC P&C 710W PSU in here.

Measured at the socket or according to a website? 474W is enough for a quad core intel cpu with dual sli 8800gtx cards..

Copper will corrode eventually, though you can doubt noticing any of that in a heatspreader / thermal goop / heatsink arrangment for a few years..

if this is it:

FX-62 | Crosshair | 4 x 1 Gb Corsair RAM | 1.4 TB Seagate Drives (4x320 RAID + 120) | 520W Corsair Modular PSU | Lian-Li PC60B Plus II-W and extras |
| Xonar Sound Card |
Hauppauge HVR 1600 | 6800GT (soon 8800GT) | Dual 19" Acer Monitors | Epson Projector | Logitech z5300e | G25 Steering Wheel |

Then you're unlikely to draw more than 230W of DC power with cpu, gpu and harddisks all stressed. Out of the socket that'll be less than 300W considering you have a good and efficient PSU

keeping it absolutly flat is far more important than making it polished and reflective! When lapping you can tend to overdo the edges.

  • The Saitek wheels in particular are known for their crapness..
  • Input lag! nooooooooooooooooooooooo

To me they're a lot more lively and change attitude more with your driving inputs; but I don't find 2.0 understeery after you adapt tot he 'slow in fast out' approach, so it will probably stay relatively understeery for those who thought 2.0 was really understeery.

Load sensitivity now truly makes sense, and engine braking now follows a believable 'curve shape'. These things do help, if anything its more realistic, and sofar adding more realism has worked well.. Almost to the point where I don't believe what I see!

So basically I loose?

I use the G25 now, still a compromise but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, which shouldn't have been so hard because my old wheel had no resistance at all..

Corvette 3.0 is in the works, this time all the physics come from a VERY comprehensive excel sheet, using logic and simple equations to make sense of all the parameters. Springs are designed around an entered frequency, so you get the influence of vehicle weight in there too.. Damping is a function of the critical damping, which is calculated based on the chosen suspension frequency..

Tyre peak slip values and load sensitivity all come from size calculatings giving very good results.. Aero forces are known before you drive a yard, torque curves are made, gearboxes are either generated or you can enter your own ratios..Even the collision 'feelers' are generated based on the cars dimensions and a few other things..

Then I press the magic 'save' button and all the TBC / INI / HDV files are created! It is not unlikely that in a few weeks we'd want a few beta testers so look for a 'Version 3 of the rFactor car you might want to try is not out yet' thread..

Well done T!

What sort of a disadvantage do you have over the newer models on paper? Seems you're not afraid to push it, recalling the dorifto video some months ago..

As much as I think that any religion is a sign of human stupidity and reversed evolution.... As much as I think that, if anything, religious types of activities and beliefs are getting more widespread instead of loosing ground.. As much as I fear that we're on a downslope as far as human intelligence is concerned....

I don't quite think religion caused all the wars. People have a tendency to be cruel and if we didn't invent religion, we'd wage wars because of disagreeing over .. carpets.. or what colour pencil should be the most common one.. I tend to think it is the selfish and cruel nature of some people, along with outright stupidity, that causes wars. Religion just tends to fit this description fairly well in the more extreme cases..

Another rFactor mod, probably a fairly good one. And a lot of hilarity at the RSC forums with a new subforum full of questionable threads.

I was just considering making something in excel to figure out where to shift when you take torque curves and gear ratios into account, after being annoyed again by car reviews raving about torque without looking at rpm.

I can not see any other way than to plot the torque curves for each gear measured at the driveshaft, and then shift at or slightly beyond where the curves intersect.

There just can't be a way to go quicker with less torque on the driven wheels?!?!

I don't touch the logitech driver settings other than rotation; just the realfeel parameters for rFactor.. (and any mod that doesn't work with realfeel isn't worth playing anyway; even 80% of the realfeel functional mods are still not worth playing.. )

Any somewhat sim would just need FF; never should you need extra spring / damper / centre spring on top of a sim. LFS does it very well, and about 3 out of the 3000 cars for rFactor do this about just as well.
Niels Heusinkveld

If you use settings like Tristan and I do, you can drive for ages without really causing trouble..

When you set the FF too strong, it means you feel no subtle forces, and the motors run at 100% strength all the time... that makes em hot and will shorten the wheel's lifespan indeed.
Niels Heusinkveld
S2 licensed
That is CERTAINLY not realistic.. LFS at 200% means you only feel two forces.. FULL or NONE.

You want your logitech profiler global device settings at:
Overall strength 105% (a tiny bit above 100 tends to help near centre responsiveness)
Spring effect 0%
Damper effect 0%
Centering spring 0%

In LFS it all depends on the car, tyre grip and most of all caster.

With 6 degrees of caster on the FZ50, you sort of max out the force feedback at ~ 25% strength in LFS!!!!

Its quite hard to do in LFS as each car is different and you can alter the steering forces a lot with the car setup..
So when you use more than 25% in this situation, it means the maximum steering forces in the sim are not recognized anymore by the wheel. Ideally you want the maximum forces that occur on the track to correspond with the maximum forces your G25 can deliver. Otherwise its like clipping audio; you loose detail and it gets a bit rough!

Still there does not have to be any relationship between the quality of the graphics and physics; totally separate things!

Professional flightsims tend to be looking a bit dull and flat; but they run smoothly and are a step up realism wise from Lock-On or Falcon 4.

Hmm well a momo isn't a good wheel. I can't speak for any other car than the corvette, but while it is hard to find this narrow 'band' around the limit, once there, its all fairly ok, no issues regarding oversteer. I know that at least 95% of the mods and all the default ISI content are too flawed though. imo..

this is an aid free lap at the ring for example

Often GPL and LFS look better than most; and these are just dx7 engines.. Shows how little technology matters. Though in GPL, the lighting and reflection is mostly in the textures, making it look slightly naff in motion. Can't complain considering the age of the sim though.

I'm not really that impressed by iRacing's graphics. But if it runs smooth at high res, and things go 'nicely' into the distance, that'll do fine.
